According M302.3, 302.3 applies in its entirety, with exception of para. 302.3.2, but 302.3 says that the basic allowable stresses listed in tables A-1 and A-2 are determined according 302.3.2 (???)

Additionally, M302.3 send to M302.3.2 that says "the designer shall fully documentthe basis for using any stress limit not in accordance with the stress Tables in Appendix A (????)

I shall appreciate if someone can clarify this confusing paragraph

It is confusing as written because the change to the base code is somewhat misplaced. The intent for Category M is to use the allowable stresses in Appendix A. If you use an unlisted material per 323.1.2 (M323.1.2), for which allowable stresses are not provided in Appendix A, M302.3.2 requires that you fully document the basis for determining those allowable stresses.

Thank you cb4
