If a vessel was made to BS5500 is it acceptable to carry out modifications, namely a nozzle replacement, using ASME procedures?

What does the owner/user and regulatory body or Jurisdiction and equipment insurer have to say?

Nothing yet. I wanted to know if it was generally considered acceptable before proposing.

Ok, if it were me I would not consider it unless this was my very last option (scrap the vessel). First, you should not be mixing code of construction rules. This is my opinion, and if I were the owner either you repair/modify to the original rules or you would have to jump through many large engineering analysis hoops to satisfy me that the code rules are similar between BS5500 and ASME B&PV Code, Section VIII, Div 1.

OK thanks for the advice. I was leaning toward that view myself. Just would have saved some time as we already have the near equivalent ASME procedure in place. I'll get appropriate BS procedure through. Thanks again.
