ASME Certified Copper

I have been trying to source ASME certified Copper tube & pipe (SB42 & SB75). Does anyone have a lead as to where I can source it in relatively small quantities? Or can ASTM material be 'crossed' to ASME certifications? Canadian jurisdictions request ASME material without reference to other certifications.

I can't help you with sources. However, I'd suggest you take a look at Section II-B Appendix A (page xliii of the 2002 edition) regarding "crossing over" ASTM materials. A partial quote: "Materials for Code use should preferrably be ordered, produced, and documented on this basis; however, material produced under an ASTM Specification may be used in lieu of the corresponding ASME Specification as listed in this Appendix." A general note to those of us using mostly II-A materials: This quote is identical to that in Appendix A of II-A.

SB42 is listed as acceptible for Section I, III, IV, and VIII-1. "Identical for the alloys covered except for the deletion of paras. 4.1.6 and 4.2, and the Supplementary Requirements for government procurement. Certification has been made mandatory."

SB75 is listed as acceptible for Section I, III, IV, and VIII-1. "Identical for the alloys and tempers covered except that mechanical testing and certification have been made mandatory."

Before using an ASTM material in lieu of an ASME material read the entire text of the Appendix and check with everybody involved - the client, jurisdiction, and AI - to gain their acceptance before you commit to the ASTM material. Although the Code may accept the material, it is a nonmandatory appendix and not all may agree.
