Hi all,

I need to re-qualify one WPS due to base metal change. We re planning to weld P1 Gr 1&2 material to BS EN 10028 P355 material.I need its P number. How can I find the counterpart of BS EN 10028 P355 in ASME standards? Is there any comparison table between Different Standards?

If you review Section IX, 2010 Edition there is a listing for
EN 10028 P355GH as P-No 1, Group 2.
 
Thanks alot metengr but what about P355NL1/NL2/NH? Shall I take P355 GH as the reference?
 
Are you performing impact test qualification on the above as part of the WPS? If not, I would say they still fall under a similar P-No 1 base material grouping because the P355NL1 and NL2 are under the category "Flat Products made of Steel for Pressure Purposes", and have similar chemical composition to P355GH. The P355NL1 and NL2 are weldable, fine grained and normalized steels.
 
Yes, PQR is impact tested thats why I m also gonna need Group number.

Actually now the main question comes out ; if one material is not specified in ASME , how can I qualify that material with a impact tested PQR ?
 
The above materials, P355NL1 and NL2 are not permitted for use in pressure retaining service for ASME B&PV Code applications. You can still use ASME Section IX guidelines for other applications, besides pressure vessels and boilers.

Would the P355N1 and NL2 not be classed as "Unassigned Materials" as per ASME IX and therefore could be qualified by testing as per QW 424.1 ?

Yes, these materials would fall under unassigned, and could be qualified using ASME Section IX guidelines. My original point was that they are not permitted for use as pressure retaining materials for ASME B&PV Code application. However, these they could be used for other service applications or for pressure vessels built to another standard.
