Good morning,
We are currently adding a new nozzle to our steam generator, to accomadate for a additional safety valve. The nozzle is of similar size/type to an existing nozzle on the boiler. The nozzle is considered a repair per NBIC, and it does not require any reinforcement and strength calculations per the orginal Code of construction. We are also adding a intervening pipe spool (BEP) between the new nozzle and safety valve to assist in constructability. The pipe spool does meet the requirements of ASME Section 1 PG-71.2 face to face dimension.
My question is..... since we are required to use the NBIC Form R1 for the repairs, can we include the intervening pipe spool to the R1 Form as part of the repair or are we required to use the ASME P4A Form for BEP in conjunction with the R1?
