I've tried for some time to understand if PCC-2 Article 212 eq.(5) assumes weld leg have the same dimensions as the required patch plate thickness, or if it's enough to go with eq.(4) for sizing the weld.
Based on the approach used by JAR10 (cred!) in the referenced thread, I've delved deeper into the case and have come to the conclusion that this is the case.
i.e. Eq.(4) alone cannot be used for sizing the weld and eq.(5) assumes the weld legs are equal to the required thickness of the patch plate.
I thought to share this in the original thread, but being as it is locked I'm referencing the thread for future references.
