ASME PTC 6 Flow Nozzle

Hi,

I am a new comer in this forum. I think it's very great to joint with you all.
Currently, I have problem about ASME PTC 6 requirement for Flow nozzle. ASME PTC 6 recomends using low beta ratio throat taps nozzle to measure flow accurately. When measuring large flows (water or steam) the nozzle gives large pressure differentials with correspondingly large unrecoverable losses. This loss can be reduced by about 70% percent by installing a diffuser downstream of the nozzle. It may very expensive (actually I don't know how many percent the price will increase if we install the diffuser in the system). Based on your experience could you advise me others way out to reduce the loss.

The cost of adding a diffuser to a PTC-6 nozzle is pretty insignificant: Depending on the size, you might be talking about a couple of percent. Depending on your flow characteristics, there are a number of methods to reduce permanent pressure loss.
