Hi,

I am trying to determine the allowable basic stress intensity (Sm) for stainless steel type 304. I have found the equivalent grade from ASME to RCCM which is Z6CN18.09, however, it is not referenced in the Z-Technical Appendices.

Has anyone else came across this problem?
Thanks

What product form? Plate, forging, welded pipe, seamless pipe, etc...

sorry missed this from original post - it is plate.

TGS4, do you have any guidance on this matter?
regards

Are you looking for the allowable stress in ASME (in which case, I would ask you which Section/Division), or RCC-M? And at what temperature? Are you looking for the straight grade of 304, the L grade, or the H grade?

Thanks for your reply. I am looking for the allowable stress in RCC-M. The temperature is 300 deg, in ASME it states 116MPA. However, in RCC-M the AFNOR GRADE is Z6CN18.09 which I cannot find in Table Z. It is the straight grade for 304 - I have the equivalent for 304L although I would rather reference the relevant grade.
many thanks
