ASME SEC VIII Div 1 Appendix 31

Hello

Appendix clause 31-4 of ASME SEC VIII Div 1 specifies that welding shall be limited to SAW and SMAW whereas the table 31.2 gives composition for GTAW and GMAW weld metal.

Is this an inconsistency? or is there some other meaning to this?

Re-read 31-4(a) says SAW or SMAW for 3Cr-1Mo-1/4V-Ti-b material ONLY.

Thankyou. I realised i was refering 1998 addenda. On checking the 2001 addenda the inconsistency(it was an inconsistency after all) was found to have been rectified.
