UCS-66(a)(2) states the governing thickness of a casting shall be its largest nominal thickness.

What about a casting valve body if it is required to follow ASME, which its thickness is various at different locations?

Usually the wall thickness at the mechanical connection will be the largest, should I use it to evaluate whether the impact test is required? Or I should use the largest thickness of pressure boundaries?

Please comments.

Thanks in advance.
