Can anyone give summary of differences between ASME Section VIII and Section IX?

I see that Section IX claims to be an international code, but how does it differ from Section VIII?

Can a Vessel design and built to Section VIII be accepted by Section IX?

Thank you for your anwers.

Section VIII is rules for pressure vessel design.

Section IX is welding qualification.

When you build pressure vessel per Section VIII by welding, you are using Section IX for welding qualification.

That depend in how many Countries already accept ASME B&PV Code as a standard as it is UL Listed equipment,
There are many Countries now accepting ASME as their standard, are more than the ones which do not accep it.
If you want to make it more Int'l, go further with ASME-ISO
Int'l...

That is correct and both serve their own purpose in our wonderful universe of "Codes and Standards". All codes should not be standards, and all standards should certainly not be codes!!!

You don't design and manufacture vessels per ASME IX; vessels are designed per ASME VIII or other Codes. ASME IX governs the essential, non essential and supplementary essential variables required to be listed on a WPS and the requirements for qualification by test of a WPS to be documented on the PQR form.
