Hello,
I am working on developing vortex shedding loads for a vent stack with varying diameter using ASME STS-1. The example calculation in the code (Appendix E)shows the design process for a stack with a uniform diameter. In the code it does say this process can be used for variable diameter stacks. Can someone explain the differences in the design procedure when dealing with a variable diameter stack. More specifically, better clarification of the Z1 to Z2 upper and lower limits range and Dbar? Any clarification would be helpful, thank you.
