Dear Experts,
I'm working at a Oil & Gas Company that fabricates Pressure vessels according to ASME Div VIII Sec 1 and we are working on a project which is to be as per ASME Div VIII Sec 2. Client's requisition is that it shall be U2 Stamped and as we work in Iran we don't have any companies which holds such a certificate. Could we use other certificate holders out of Iran? either for Inspection or Design process??
Best Regards,
R. Ahmadi

ahmadire, you could contract it out, if agreeable to your client. Unless your organization is familiar with Div 2 design, you'd contract out the whole job, design, fabrication and inspection.

Note that your organization is still responsible to the client, and in turn responsible for the contractor as well.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Mr. SnTMan I meant can we contract it out in order to be stamped as an ASME Code? We are fully experienced as per sec 1 and we are fabricator of this project and we just want to have our document confirmed by ASME certificate holder.

ahmadire, if you are asking if another party can apply a stamp your organization doesn't hold, I'm pretty sure the answer is no.

Regards,

Mike

You cannot have another organization stamp the end product of any work being done in your shop unless the ASME Certificate holder is the one subcontracting to your shop and they have full control according to their QC program. In other words, unless you have an ASME Section VIII, Div 2 Certificate you cannot provide this vessel from your shop.

We have contracted with both Inspector and designer authorized by ASME but could it be enough so that ASME stamp be released in the end?
even if our quality plan has been not checked and confirmed by ASME?

ahmadire, I really don't understand what you are doing. Can you explain clearly?

Regards,

Mike

We contracted with a company to manufacture their pressure vessels as per ASME Sec VIII Div 2 and they have asked us to use ASME U2 Stamp. and our product shall be certified to ASME Requirements. Is it possible to do it by our own capability but use both Inspector and designer certified by ASME to get stamped?

No way. To hold an additional designator you have to do it with an ASME full Audit. Apply for the new certificate and if the ASME consider that you are capable for Div.2, then you will get the certificate and build, sub and make stuff for the next 3 years.
I was under the impression the ASME didn't issue authorizations in Iran. Was I wrong?

GenB unfortunately we have been imposed by sanctions in a period of time but nowadays we are getting rid of them.
