ASME UN 12C

Dear Friends
We have got an old Carbon Filter Tank (atmospheric tank). It is operating at our facility since 1978. Now we want to replace it with a new tank. I have dug out the old manufacturing specification. It says that it was manufactured as per ASME UN 12C. I want to know what is this and if it is from old versions of ASME than what is its equivalent as per latest ASME Code.
Help needed.

Are you sure that is not a misprint or a misreading? The tank could have been designed to API 2C, the Welded Oil Storage Standard. Can you check again the specification?

Our company has access to the IHS standards site. I could not find ASME UN 12C. I also found nothing for UN 12C, UN12C. For ASME 12C, I fouond nothing releavent to tanks.

Doing a search for ASME 12, I found

Perhaps this may help. It may be a stretch but worth looking into.

API 12C is the predecessor to the API 650 standard which covered steel storage tanks as early as the 50’s. I am assuming your facility is a nuclear plant and perhaps the tank is (or was) safety related equipment. If safety related your specification may require elements of the ASME U and N stamp requirements in addition to the API 12C standard. Does this vessel have a nameplate?

As an example, many nuke plants (70's contruction) have for their Class C vessels, ASME Section VIII vessel nameplates with the letter “N” below the Code symbol meeting compliance with 1968 edition of Section III, Article 21 paragraph N-2115 which states the following:
Class C Vessels shall be stamped with the letter “N” below the Code U-symbol in the stamping shown in Fig. UG-118 of the Code
