Hello,

I am wanting to calculate allowable number of cycles of a pressure vessel (snubber) using ASME VIII D2 ANNEX 3.F DESIGN FATIGUE CURVES and have a couple of questions.

Am I correct in thinking I should use the 'Smooth Bar Fatigue Curves' for the shell and the 'Welded Joint Fatigue Curves' for the Nozzle to Shell junction?
How do I calculate (Sa)? Annex 3.F points to 'Part 5' which is Design by Analysis (FEA), but are there equations to calculate the stress amplitude based on design pressure?
I have read about 'Fatigue Strength Reduction Factors'. Do I apply this to the calculated (Sa) value?

Thank you for any information.

STOP!

Do not proceed any further. You need the experience and expertise of an experienced pressure vessel engineer to assist you. You should look for someone with experience with fatigue analyses.

If you worked full time with me for the next year, I am doubtful that I could teach you enough of what you need to know on the topic to not be dangerous.
