I am trying to get two welders at our USA company wholey - owned plant in China cerified to perform casting repair IAW ASME Section IX. We have a possible company out of Shanghai that says that they are certified to perform the required tests to Section IX and that they can get my welders and the WPS certified. They also will send over someone who will train the welders. However, when I asked them for a cert that approves them to perform this training and testing, they provided a cert that states they are qualified by AWS as having met all of the requirements of AWS QC4 - Standard for Acceditation of Test Facilities for AWS Certified Welder Program.
I know that in many cases AWS and ASME work together in standards and other areas. Is this a case where the AWS standard is approval for testing and approval for ASME Section IX welding?
Thanks for the help.
