In root product, I have created a product ( say A ) and created a plate. In that plate I have created a hole and patterned it to 4 holes.

Then in the root product I have created another product ( say B ). I have created a pin in this product at the centre of the hole created in Product A.

When I want to reuse the pattern created in Product A for placing the pin at all the 4 holes, the pattern is not getting selected.

What is the procedure to do it. Any setting to be done in options

If I understand you correctly, you have a product with two sub-assemblies (A and B). Sub-assembly A contains a plate with 4 holes in a Pattern, and sub-assembly B contains a Pin part.

In order to reuse the pattern to duplicate the Pin part:
a. make both sub-assemblies flexible
b. activate the root assembly
c. constrain the first Pin part to one of the holes in the pattern

then use the Reuse Pattern tool.

Dear Jackk

Thanks for the reply.

In sub assy A, I have a plate with 4 holes.

In sub assy B, I have a pin. I want to place the pin at all the 4 places in the location of the plate in sub assy A.

If we do as per the procedure told by you the patterned pins are coming in the root assy but not with in the sub assy B. I need the patterned pins with in the sub assy B as per the pattern in sub assy A.

Please help out

Starting with the same product/sub-assembly structure:

A. Copy the Plate part from sub-assy A and paste it into sub-assy B
B. Hide the Plate part in sub-assy A, and show it in sub-assy B
C. Make sub-assy B active (double-click to make it blue in the tree)
D. INSERT + REUSE PATTERN
[li]select one of the holes to define the pattern[/li]
[li]select the Pin part to define the component to instantiate[/li]
[li]click OK[/li]
[li](all the Pin parts are in sub-assy B)[/li]
E. Hide the Plate part in sub-assy B, and show it in sub-assy A

I think this is what you want, but I would not do it this way.

Dear Jackk

Thanks for the reply.

The picture sent by you is what I want.

But the procedure of copying Plate from sub assy A and pasting in sub assy B, cannot be used practically.

Because I want to use this in multiple plates.

In that case, I will have to copy all the plates from sub assy A to sub assy B. This is impractical.

Thanks for the help
