Gentlemen,

I am trying to assembly one camshaft using SolidWorks and everything was going fine until now. The problem is that I need to add an angle between the cams and I am not beeing able to do it. Right now they are both aligned. I can rotate one of them manually but this is not a good solution.

Can anyone help me on that matter?

Kind regards,

Marcus

Check to ensure you don't have any automatic relations that are preventing your angle. Have you tried creating an angle mate using the default Planes of the models?

Have you read faq731-376 to make the best use of these Forums?

Hi MadMango,

Thank you for your answer. As far as I coud see I do not have any automatic relations preventing the movement of the cams. My main problem is that when I select ´Mate´ I do not know which features I have to select on Cam 1 and Cam 2 in order to make available the angle ´Mate´.

Answering your second question, although I can create parts and assembly them together I think I do not enough knowledge to create ´Mates´ using the planes.

Could you help me on that?

Thank you so much!

use axis for mates, open cam profile part, make planes, where needed, put axis where needed, ie:# of deg for lobe2 and lobe2. Go back to assy and mate with axis made in assy and on the cam profile part. This way you can move axis arround and set deg lead where you want.

Dear Gentlemen,

Thank you so much for your explanation. I was finally able to create the angle between the cams.

Kind regards to all,

Marcus
