Assembly Cost Calculation in Inventor

Hi All,

We use Inventor 11. My question is the following:

Is there a practical way to generate a report containing the BOM and cost (for every componant) within Inventor ? And would this database be "smart" or linkable to excell or access ?

If not, is there any software or plugin that could possibly do this ?

Please note, I do not use Inventor myself.

Any help or pointers are very appreciated.

Inventor has fields in its iProperties menus for cost. This field can be added to a BOM and then exported to an access or excell file. That being said, I have exported a BOM into excell before but never into access and I have no idea if there is a way to link the two together so that the exported files update with the model.

The quick answer is yes, you can put that information into Inventor and then get it back out again.

Thanks for your response.

I have noticed the estimated cost field in the iProperties menu, we filled it in for parts but the assembly cost does not add up the cost of the parts, everything has to be input manually.

Can you import iProperties from Excell ?

Excell links with Access so Excell functionnality would be fine with me.

You could use the BOM extractor addin on Charles site, but that does not update automatically.

There are a couple addins out there that I'm pretty sure would do the trick, but I don't use them so I can't give you much advise.
