Assembly Drawing With See-Thru Parts

Is there a way to show most of the parts on an assembly see-thru ?
I am creating a drawing showing all the hydraulic hoses on a machine, and I want to show all the hoses as normal, and everything else transparent.
I am almost certain that I saw this years ago, but I don't remember how it was accomplished.
I am on NX1884.

Perhaps render sets or secondary geometry will help. Of the 2, I think secondary geometry is the newer option (might be easier to use).

Here is a page that lists the pros/cons of each method. Also, it mentions view dependent editing and view overlays.
