Assembly Exporting Help 2

I am trying to export an assembly to be used in ACAD. I have tried ACIS and IGES and they seem to work fine but what I would really like is for the assembly to just be one single dumb solid part with minimal file size. My attempts with the ACIS and IGES have given me file sizes at 5 MB and up which is not acceptable since I have SLOW speed internet and I need to email this file. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Matt

Since SW2003, you can "Save as" your assembly into a single part file. The resulting part file may yield a smaller IGES or ACIS file when converted.

Are you compressing (zipping) your files. Typically, IGES files are very compressible.

Also, if you don't Zip your files some email programs will attempt to "read" the file as text and you'll get a bunch of trash on the other end anyway. Zipping is a good way to shield your data. Most of my IGES exports compress up to 80% smaller than their unzipped format.

Good call. My 8 MB file compressed 89%. That helps.
