ASSEMBLY FILE NAME SHOW (!) 4

Hi,
When I open some file, the top bar of the window show file name ex: NX3 Modeling Top-Assy.prt (!). I don't know what is wrong with my file name. What is (!) for? I suspect that I have assemble the metric and imperial part together. The file still working.

In theory, the (!) tells you that something in the assembly is out of date (a part or some link needs updating). In practice, I wouldn't worry about it too much; as long as you save the files that you were working on before you close them.

It would be a more useful feature if it told you what was out of date (in NX2 I have not found such a reporting tool - if it exists please tell me).

If you look at the assembly navigator you can modify the columns to show "out of date". This can help you locate the out of date file. If you make out of date part your work part then you can add this column (out of date) to your part navigator as well and that will tell you which feature is out of date....

Thanks, MBrookey; I'll have to add that column to my list.

I can go for weeks or even months without seeing the (!), but every once in a while it will pop up when everything seems to be ok.

Glad I could help you. Those are tools I use all the time. I use mold wizard and it's not uncommon to have things go out of date one you for no reason.

You can also goto tools --> update --> update session.

I know that, but some times update session doesn't work.... You have to suppress the out of date feature and then unsuppress the feature.
Sometimes you have to make a new current feature (one before the out of date feature) depending on what is out of date. And then roll the model back to the bottom of the tree.

There is a lot of ways to fix an out of date part.
