Has anyone else experienced this.
In an Assembly if a part is expanded in the feature manager it should have a folder inside of it named "MATES IN XX Assembly" containing the mates used to constrain the part to the other parts in the assembly.
I can see that the mates are active in the assembly, the problem is that the folder isn't created in the part. They do however show up on the main Mates folder at the bottom of the Feature Manager. This only happens sporadically to some assemblies. Any solutioins to this?

Have not experienced that ... yet ... using SW2004, SP2.1

What are you using?

SW 2004 sp3.0
happened also with sp 2.?

You won't get a folder under a part showing the mates. Mates will show up in two locations depending on the option you pick

View features - Mates show up at the bottom under a MateGroup Which can be expanded to show all mates in the assembly

View mates and Dependencies - Exapnd the part and the mates show up directly under the part (those that are controlled for just that part in the assembly) Below that is a folder that contains the features.

Both options are located at the top level assembly name. RMB the top level Assembly name and hover over top "Tree Display" - A fly out menus opens up and at the bottom of that menu are those 2 options.

I have the following in all assemblies while having View “By Features” set.
When View “By Dependencies” is set, it is the same, in different order.

620721 (assembly in model tree)
352345 (sub-assembly in model tree)
+(folder with paper clip) Mates in 620721
352246 (part in model tree)
+(folder with paper clip) Mates in 620721

Alright I see it now!

With View Features:

Top level part
|
|- Sub Assembly
| |
| |- Mates Folder
| |
| |- Under each parts
| |
| |- Mates Folder
| |- Features
|
|- More Parts
|
|- Mates Folder
|- Features

With View mates and Dependencies:

Top level part
|
|- Sub Assembly
| |
| |- All Mates Exposed
| |
| |- Under each part
| |
| |- All Mates Exposed
| |- Feature Folder
|
|- More Parts
|
|- All Mates Exposed
|- Features Folder

Dish make sure to check which option you have checked.

Scott,
Any idea on how to get remove "Mates Folder" while viewing features?

Bradley

Yes, I have switched to view mates and dependenices. That works great. Still does not remove Dependencies under each part.

Bradley

Just curious Bradley ... why would you want to remove/hide the Dependencies? That's one of the best FM improvemnets SW has implemented.

CorBlimeyLimey,
Yes I agree with you when I want to use dependencies. However when I do a search for a component, the search stops at every dependency used.
