hey all,

i have an assembly in which two parts are displaying the "stoplight" rebuild sign. i have tried rebuilding (refreshing) the parts, opening them and editing them in context and reloading them. nothing seems to work. i also tried closing and reopening SW. has anyone else had this problem or know a solution? i'm using SP3. is this a bug?

thanks. earl patrick

If this is the same thing we run into it is a bug. We useally run into it when the parts have more than one configuration. If this is the case with you I can explain fuyther. Let me know.
You can go under Tools, Options, Performance, and set the Rebuild Assembly On Load to Always. That may take care of the problem. BBJT CSWP

This problem can arise from in-context features (especially the base feature) that are not related to the datums (planes or origin) of the part. In other words, if you use "convert edges" to build a base feature, you can have a fully-defined sketch which is not related to the parts own origin or datum planes. Then, if the part is mated into the assembly using surfaces created by those converted edges, you get a kind of circular reference thing going. To fix it, try mating the part into the assembly with datum plane relationships, and make sure each sketch is tied to the origin or planes.

I have also seen this problem when applying hole wizard features to component from the master assembly... the rebuild sign appears in the master assem, and any affected sub-assems, but not in the parts themselves when opened directly... this is true in SP3 as well.. not sure what o make of it, but I have posed the Question to the dudes at SWX. Regards,
Jon
