Assembly Weld bead

Has anyone inserted a weld bead into an assembly to join a flatbar to a pipe?

The flatbar is parallel to the front plane, offset from the front plane, and has 1 tangent edge to the pipe. I can insert a fillet weld at this location but I am unable to insert any other welds on any other faces of the flatbar.

Do I need to make a configuration for how the part is fitted (contoured to fit the pipe OD) prior to welding?

Thanks for any help with this.

Weld beads:

I haven't experimented in 2003, but previously we had a bear of time using the weld feature. Mainly, the "pre-fab" weld beads needed specific parameters before they could be used.

We leave them out now when we can. However, using an "insert part" and in context mates we create our weld beads on our assemblies.

Hope this helps.

Jackboot,

Thanks. I spent too much time with this yesterday and have decided to leave them out. I'll just use the weld symbol annotations in my drawings.
