Hi everybody,
I saved an assembly file with different name using "save as" and when I tried to open later, I am getting a warning messgae like:

1.prt "Failed to find file using current search options,part left unopened"
2.prt "Failed to find file using current search options,part left unopened"

and none of the parts were loaded.

Can anybody help me to solve this problem. I am using UGNX

Check your load options. Use as saved if none of the details have changed location since you renamed the assembly.

Use search paths to allow UG to find the files where ever they are. With such generaic names as 1.prt, etc, this may be a problem.

Thanks Ben,
How is it possible to check whether the indivitual parts created in Assembly or linked to an external source.

Actually I was trying to open the file from one folder and to save in another folder with a different name.

Can you please explain to me how to link these to the original source.

You will need to do some manual work here if your load option settings do not work. First try file-->options-->load options, and choose "as saved". If the files are still not found, choose file-->open, and make sure "load no components" is checked. Then in the Assembly Navigator, right click on each of the unloaded components, and choose open--> component as... then browse to the file. I hope that helps. In the future, you may want to investigate the use of cloning, instead of "save as". Or, even easier for me, if you have an API execute license, install "UG zip PC" from Weideman Engineering (

http://www.w-eng.de).

Then simply make a zip file of the entire loaded assembly, and you can transport it anywhere you want, unzip it to a folder, and set the load options to "from directory". Hope that helps.

You can use Assemblies-Reports-List Components to tell you in what directory the assembly thinks the compnents should be.

You want to have 2 assemblies that reference the same components, with each assembly in a different directory? Not a problem, you will have to use load options like Derek explained and use the Search Directories option and set your search paths.

I could even copy the linked parts to the new location.
