Assign a material to a body

Hi,
yesterday I was able to assign material, today I don't understand the different behavior.
I attach a zipped movie.
As you can see, steps are the same as the help.

1)Whit part displayed, click Material Properties .

2)Select the body to which you want to apply the material.

3)In the Assign Material dialog box, select a material from the Materials list.

4)Click Apply.

5)The material is assigned to the body, and a green check mark appears next to the material in the list.

6)Click Cancel to close the dialog box.

I don't understand what the problem is that you think you're seeing. I see nothing in the video that looks like a problem. Please restate what it is that you think is not working correctly.

after apply the material, I don't see the green check mark appears next to the material in the list, but a blue minus.

OK, the Green 'check mark' indicates which is the currently assigned material, but that is only valid when the 'Local/Reference Material' option is toggled ON. Otherwise the Blue 'dash' simply indicates which materials have been referenced during the life of this part, but does not indicate which one is current the active material, you can only see that if the 'Local/Reference Material' option is enabled. Note that if the material has been changed from an earlier assignment, you will find more than one Blue 'dash' but only a single Green 'check mark', however when the 'Local/Reference Material' option is toggled ON, there will be a Red 'circle' indicating the previous material(s).

Note that stating with NX 7.5 this dialog is layed-out differently (it will be more obvious which material mode that you're working in) and we will only be using the Green 'check mark' no matter whether you're looking at 'Local' or 'Library' materials.

I generally try to avoid editing XML files, but when I have no choice, I use something like 'Wordpad' is all.

Notepad++ is a nice all around editor. It is not a dedicated XML editor, but will do syntax highlighting, expand/pack groups, has tabbed interface for working with multiple files, has excellent search/replace functionality, and its free. It is also very useful for editing journal files because it will also do .NET syntax highlighting.
