Hello everyone!

I am currently trying to add a concentricity tolerance to the center bore of a gear, using the outer diameter as a datum, similar to what is shown here:
I am using pro/e wildfire 3.0.

How do I assign the outer diameter as the datum as they have in the link?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

First of all i use Creo 2, but i remember vaquely that the process should be similar. Please do not hold that against me if below does not work :).

To make the outer diameter the datum plane, i create a plane that is tangent to outer diameter surface. Then for the newly created plane i assign it to be a GTOL plane using properties. See picture below.

Then opening the drawing you select the Geometric Tolerance box. In here you will have to make selections in Model Refs, Datum Refs, Tol Value and Symbols. You will have various options regarding position of the GTOL Box. I have shown 2 ways in the picture below. Also check out the gtol_datums setting in you drawing setup file according to the standard it should follow.

Hope the above is useful in WF3 as well.
