Associative model weight on drawing

All,

Is it possible whilst using a master model approach (i.e. the model and the drawing are separate part files) to have a fully associative weight on the drawing. I.e. if the model changes, the weight ‘string’ on the drawing will also update.

Cheers,

NXj

Attached is an example of a very simple Master Model part and it's accompanying Drawing where the Weight (along with the Material) has been captured in notes on the Drawing and which will change if either the size or the assigned material of the model is edited.

This was done by creating Measurement Expressions and then linking the Mass to the a Part Attribute in the Master Part model which gets automatically assigned as Object Attributes on the Component when the Master Model Drawing is created. Than all you have to do is create a note referencing the relevant Attribute(s) assigned to the Component.

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

In NX7 and without the Measurement Expressions, it's possible ?

Thank you...

Using NX 7.0.1.7 MP1 and TC8.1

Not really, however in the next version of NX the weight (and other model characteristics) will be captured and stored, without the need to create measurement features, in such a manner that they will be available to anyone for whatever purpose they may need.
