What is the significance of the "M" in A 105M? Is this two separate materials? Also does A 105 come in grades? I'm trying to choose the correct flanges i.e. F42 through F 70.

Thanks,
Bonkers

"M" means metric (SI) units. If the designation is A 105/105M, that means there are both imperial and SI units given in the same document. If there are two different documents, such as A 325 and A 325M, that means the non-M document has only imperial units and the M document has only SI units.

A 105 does not appear to have different grades, but you should get your own copy rather than taking my word for it.

Hg,

Thanks for the reply. I have a copy o ASTM A 105 and it did not give a description of the "M". Your explanation makes sense. ASTM A 105 does not mention grades however the industry refers to grades 1 and 2 which I have not found. I guess I need to talk to those referring to grades and find out where they are coming from.
