I'm interested in understanding the call outs for minor constituent elements in ASTM A1011 HSLA steel.
The ASTM spec says in foot note E:
"HSLAS .... steels contain the strengthening elements columbium (niobium), vanadium, titanium, and molybdenum added singly or in combination. The minimum requirements only apply to the microalloy elements selected for strengthening of the steel."
The table for grade 45 or 50 for instance say 0.005% minimum for each of these microalloy consituents.
My specific question regards this minimum call out. Is it for each of the microalloy materials (if it is in there it must be at least 0.005%) or is it intended to be in total of these microalloys (the sum of the % of V, Cb, Ti)?
