HI I HAVE FORGED SOME CAPSCREWS AND WANT TO KNOW WHAT TEMP TO CARBIDE SOLUTION TREAT THE ITEMS AFTER FORGING. IN THE ASTM BOOK IT SAYS AFTER FORGING THE MATERIAL SHALL BE HEATED FROM AMBIENT TEMPERATURE AND HELD A SUFFICIENT TIME AT WHICH THE CARIDE WILL GO INTO SOLUTION AND THEN SHALL BE COOLED AT A RATE SUFFIECIENT TO PREVENT PRECIPITATION OF THE CARBIDE HAS ANYONE DONE THIS BEFORE

Carbide solution occurs at annealing temperatures: ~ 1050 [°]C. Carbide precipitation will occur if the part cools slowly, so this is prevented with quenching, typically in water.
