All over the internet the USA equivalent of S420N is ASTM A255 GR D / A633E.
As best I can tell ASTM A255 is "Standard Test Methods for Determining Hardenability of Steel" . No Grades are listed in that document.
ASTM A633E is "standard Specification for Normalized High-Strength Low-Alloy Structural Steel Plates" and does have a Grade D.
Am I mistaken that including ASTM A255 ( a test procedure ) is an error, and suggests A255 is really a typo, and perhaps another ASTM Std is intended. Like for instance A225 - "Standard Specification for Pressure Vessel Plates, Alloy Steel, Manganese-Vanadium-Nickel" which does have a Grade D?
thanks,
Dan T
