ASTM A672 Gr C70 Cl 22

Hi,

Can somebody please tell me the chemical composition for ASTM A672 Gr C70 Cl 22? I cannot find it in any of the specs. Is it similar to ASTM A106 Gr C?

No. The ASME SA 672 Specification is for "Electric-Fusion- Welded Steel Pipe for High Pressure Service at Moderate Temperatures".

The Grade C70 refers to ASTM A 516 Grade 70 plate for fabricating the welded steel pipe. This is plain carbon steel plate, killed, fine grained.

The Class 22 refers to stress relieved pipe after welding.

If you don't have a copy of the A 516 Grade 70 plate specification;

.28 % C max for plate (1/2" to 2" in thickness)
.85-1.20% Mn
0.035% Max P
0.035% Max S
0.15-0.40% Si
