We have here a discussion about the interpretation of ASTM A99-23 for the permissible Variation in Outside Diameter
We have a welded pipe with NPS of 812,8 mm and a wallthickness of 6 mm
The measurement of the OD (cross-section) is 815 / 810 mm and 814 / 811 mm
According to Table 3 of the active ASTM A999-23 Outside Diameter is 4,0mm for Over and 0.8 mm for under. It is a bit confusing why this might be allowed for a thin wall pipe that the OD is still within tolerance. Can someone give a hint or feedback if the tolerance for this pipe-example is okay. Many thanks for your support.
