Anyone know a great resource to get ASTM and AISI specifications converted to JIS? A particular exmple I'm working on now is AISI 1018 Bar steel to JIS equiv.

Everything/Anything would be helpful...Thanks!

Basically you have to have the JIS book and the ASTM AISI SAE books also. AFter a few time going through the process you will begin remembering how to start.

IE: SAE specs J403 is carbon steel, J404 is alloy steel, J405 is stainless. or SPHC Means Steel Plate Hot-Rolled Commercial quality. It's a matter of becoming familiar with the various specifications you have to deal with. You will eventually only need a few to cover most any type of steel you deal with.

good luck this can be an annoying topic.
