I have a client who requested ASTM C-1260 (ASR through Mortar Bar Expansion) from a testing agency. It turns up after the test was performed and completed (9 months had passed) that this was for a bridge, and as such the testing should have been in accordance with AASHTO T-303. This then proceeded my client to ask me if there truly is a difference between the two.
Upon review between both, it appears to me that the main difference is the water-cement ration (ASTM designates 0.47, while AASHTO designates 0.50).
Am I missing something? The molds are the same size, correct? It appears the normality of the reageant is exactly the same, as is the volume of reageant per sample.
Any info would be helpful. Thanks.
