ASTM F1554 Anchor Rods (Weldable)

I was looking at the spec. and noticed that F1554 Grade 36 is not weldable. Only Grade 55 is. Does this mean I cannot tack weld a nut at the end of the anchor rod for my typical anchor bolt detail?

TIA

A metalurgist told me to never weld on nuts, as it crystalizes that type of metal and may lead to cracking.

Soooo, I don't ever tack weld my nuts - I damage my threads or double nut.

Why do you tack weld nuts typically? Are you expecting constant force reversal on the nuts? Aren't the nuts typically encased in concrete from the slab on grade anyway?

STR04,

I think you have it backwards. Grade 36 is weldable. Grade 55 is weldable if you specify the weldability supplement. Grade 105 is not weldable.
