Is anybody here familiar with the ASTM F1717 standard for testing vertebral body replacements? I have a question about how to test a somewhat nonstandard implant.

Hello,

Do you have a copy of the standard? I usually buy mine online at techstreet.com. As a contract manufacturer I have manufactured several models of VBR.

I do have a copy - my question is that I may be outside the bounds of the standard, but the FDA does not say what other forms of testing they would be satisfied by - only that "other appropriate tests may suffice"

Have you tried searching technical papers or contacting a local Biomedical university program that might be interested in a research project?

Here's a couple of resources below that I dug up.
I also have a couple of good references on fixation of the spine at home. I will browse through them and see if there's anything that might be useful to you.
