I work in the CPI and see ASTM F593 stainless steel fasteners used extensively in bolted flanged connections. Many times they are supplied and used where original piping specs call for ASTM A193B8 stainless steel fasteners. Can anyone familiar with ASME codes tell me if ASTM F593 fasteners are "allowed" with ASME codes vessels or piping flanges? They are a better choice from a gasketing perspective, because they have higher yield strength than the A193-B8 stainless bolts.

Yes they are allowed to replace A193 B8 hex head bolts. There is one caveat in that the thread length doesn't follow the normal convention of 2D + 1/4",1/2". Make sure the thread length is called out or is satisfactory for your application. Also watch your alloy groups if they have contact with the process.
