ASTM HK30 heat treatment

hi Guys

thanks for your help with 1.4509 heat treatment.

we have a customer enquiry requesting a price for HK30 material castings.

but, again we do not know what heat treatment is required.

can anyone help please?

ASTM A 297 gr HK is the cast equivalent . This being a heat resistant steel any heat treatment is optional.

You should have a copy of the appropriate material specification. ASTM A 351 Grade HK30 requires they be supplied by the manufacturer in the as-cast condition.

a lot of the time even the customer is unsure of what specification they need, they just state the material and think we know all about it.

we,ll ask them about being supplied as cast.

lakk, our company cast niobium modified HK30 and our customer need this alloy in heat treated state. It is annealing. 1125C for not less than 2 hours in vacuum and subsequent cooling in furnace.
