ASTM or ASME Spec for 1.25Cr-0.5Mo in Strip form

I have an application (insulation support system for a pressure vessel) where I need to use 1.25Cr-0.5Mo material. I need this material in 1/8" thick x 2" wide and 3/8" thick x 4" wide strips.

I know that for this material, I have the specification for SA-387, Gr. 11, Class 2 for plate, but I am looking for a strip specification. I have searched through ASME Section II, Part D, and found bar form in SA-739, Grade B11. Is the bar specification sufficient for my application, or is there a better specification for the strip?

The bar specification is not sufficient and not applicable. I don't believe this has to be an ASME SA material specification for this application. All you need is a weldable grade of Cr-Mo strip so check with a steel distributor for stock material in this grade or equivalent or use the ASTM A 387 specification (it does not need to be SA specification).

If I understand you correctly, the A387 spec could be applicable.

I need to make sure that it's the right grade of Cr-Mo for the creep resistance at temperature.

The A 387 specification should do it. In fact, the Grade 22 plate may be more available and is a slight upgrade in time dependent allowable stress values over Grade 11 plate (1.25% Cr-1% Mo alloy steel).
