ASTM specifcation for U-Bolts 1

Hi,

I have to specify a U-Bolt for a A106B pipe. My understanding is that U-Bolt materials are of same material as the Stud Bolt material specified for the flange (in the relevant pipe class). The difference here is that it is bent to U shape. Am I correct?
I went throgh a lot of product specifications, but most of them just specify either CS or SS, not the ASTM number for that.

Any seniors out there with info containing different U-Bolt material specification (ASTM) to be used for various pipe materials??

Yes, correct. Materials for U-bolt pipe supports would be specified based on a bar material specification - for example ASTM A 193 would be used for low alloy or stainless steel bolts that can be bent into U-bolts. For carbon steel bolting, it could be A 307.

Specify your U-Bolt to be in conformance with MSS-SP-69.

This is tthe suggested set of rules that applies to both power plant and chem plant piping systems.
