I have spec calling for ASME B16.5 Class 150 pipe flanges.

A big online supplier has them in stock meeting ANSI B16.5 and ASTM A105 and ASTM A182 specs.

Lots of online sources write ASME/ANSI B16.5.

One source says ASME flanges are hydraulic rated and have different grooves and features, and their ANSI B16.5 flanges are not ASME 16.5 rated.

Hmm.

ASME B16.5 is the correct current standard for pipe flanges. ANSI B16.5 is old nomenclature as many standards were labeled with the ANSI mother logo. ASTM A105 and ASTM A182 are material specifications. ASME uses the ASTM material specifications and publishes for pipe and vessel materials with the letter S in front of the number, ASME SA 105.

Their may be other ASME flange specifications that cover hydraulic flanges. Also their are different types of pipe flanges such as ring joint in addition to raised face.

Tmoose,
JLSeagull is correct. There is no such standard as ANSI B16.5 . There used to be and unfortunately there are still a lot of people still using this identification which is incorrect. Much the same ANSI B16.9, ANSI B16.11 are used also. It's about time (as the designations have been around for some time now) that people started to quote the correct ASME designations.
