ASTM vs ISO Material for Pipeline

Can we use ISO 15590-2/3 flanges and fittings inplace of F694 forgings and viceversa?

ISO looks more stringent compared to ASTM for pipeline forgings and fittings. Does it mean that most of the clients follow only ISO 15590 ?

Yes, ISO 15590 is more stringent than its ASTM counterparts because: a) it was co-drafted by a group of oil company engineers, principally from Europe, along with US manufacturers; b) it has been subjected to a worldwide review and comment process, and not simply a US based committee process.

ASTM A694 is a fairly rudimentary specification, and if consideration would be given to an off-the-shelf alternative to ISO 15590, then it would be ASME B16.49 for induction bends, ASTM A707/MSS SP-44 for flanges, and ASTM A860/MSS SP-75 for fittings.
