Just built a new system to finally replace my P4 at work
Gigabyte Z68A-D3H-B3 Motherboard
Intel i7 2600K
ATI FirePro V4900 with 8.85.7.1 driver
Corsair 8GB DDR3 RAM PC16000
Corsair 60GB SSD ('Static' software installs)
WD 500GB HDD (Volatile data storage)
Windows 7 Pro
SW12-SP2
Installed everything no problem. Fired up SW and used for rest of the day. Installed a few utilities (CCleaner, MalwareBytes, MS Essentials, etc) Played with a few settings, but left as default at days end. Great results with RealView all day. Benchmarked at 64secs on Anna's Punch Holder. Not too bad considering no overclocking so Iam was a happy camper.
Next day I notice RealView is missing from the Headsup toolbar. This is on a simple part (no geometry even) so LAM is not involved. The icon is greyed out after adding in to the toolbar.
Checked a few settings (Software OpenGL not selected) but eventually ran a System Restore to previous day (and here's where it gets interesting) I had moved my User profile to the HDD so that all volatile data (downloads, app data, email, etc) went to the HDD, and used the mklink function to create a Junction (shortcut) ... and everything went downhill from there. Apparently Sytem restore & mklink don't like each other.
Long story short ... system was hosed... did a complete re-install, fired up SW and still no RealView. My elation at getting a new system has been short lived.
Any suggestions for a fix?
