Hello,

has anybody some experience with this graphic card in Catia V5 ? I have some small problems with it and I would like to see if it's a general problem or not?

Thank you in advance.

CATIA, NX, Wildfire all require OpenGL cards. Radeon cards are gaming/DirectX cards.

Ok...and what is with FireGL (from ATI)?

Some FireGL cards are approved by Dassault. You can check the list @ their site.

...so the problem is: I used to work in Catia V5 on a computer with ATI Radeon Mobility 9700 - it worked very good after installing the Catalyst driver and software... Now I have a new computer with ATI Radeon Xpress X1200 and in general it works also ok, BUT: if I make a zoom-in or zoom-out using the (+) or (-) buttons, first the image will "vibrate" a little bit, it's like it's making first a zoom in the oposite direction, and only after this it will zoom normal. Another issue is when I'm trying to rotate the image (with the middle and left mouse buttons) it will take about 2 seconds until the image starts to rotate, after this first delay the rotation is functioning without problems and very smooth, as usual.
I'm just asking myself if these small issues are due to the incompatibility of my graphic card or there is some solution to eliminate them...

Thank you in advance for telling me what's your opinion about this.

Obviously size and detail of the model will affect performance, but tools-->options-->Display->Performance - 3D accuracy, 2d accuracy, level of detail while moving and pixel culling. To further enhance your graphic twiddle power, turn off edges and points in View mode custom. If you must have edges, turn on no vertices.

A new problem - this time very disturbing - that I discovered is when I put the mouse cursor on a product in the structure-tree: it takes a very long time until Catia makes the preselection of the 3d geometry!!! Catia is almost frozen until each edge and surface of the product is preselected !!! This is very disturbing and it is NOT happening with my "old" 9700 card (the preselection occurs almos immediately!). Could it be possible that my new X1200 card is so weak in comparison with the 9700 Radeon???

Thanks in advance.

Maybe different drivers would help? Just a suggestion.

Ok, but which other driver should I install? Is there other driver which is compatible with my X1200 card and will also ensure better performances? (I have already installed the last x1200 driver).
