does 2007 nfpa 13 section 8.15.1.2 offer exceptions from sprinkling an attic?

for example, 2007 nfpa 13, section 8.15.1.2.2 says concealed spaces of noncombustible and limited-combustible construction with limited access and not permitting occupancy or storage of combustibles shall not require sprinkler protection. the space shall be considered a concealed space even with small openings such as those used as return air for a plenum.

Would a wood roof truss and plywood roof deck framing such an attic be considered “noncombustible” or “limited-combustible”?

No.......wood frame construction is not considered "noncombustible" or "limited-combustible construction".

Sprinkler protection can sometimes be ommitted in combustible attic spaces as long as the attic spaces have "adequate" fire subdivision (the fire subdivision and other construction features must be in accordance with the applicable life safety code requirements) depending on the given occupancy, the total square footage and the various construction features specific to your facility.

Regardless of occupancy (which may not require sprinkler protection) you're space is concealed combustible construction and sprinklers are required.
