Hi group
The shop I work at has me into UG, I have been Pro e designer for the last 5 years so the learning curve is gonna kill me, LOL.

I am wondering how to place an attribute in a note and make it show up on a drawing. Say for example the callout ID, how could I add it to a ballon note and make it show the id number or letter.

Thanks for your help, I will be asking a lot of questions, the documentation leaves a lot to the imagination.

I feel the same way about trying to learn Pro/E after 15+ years on UG!

While the documentation may be poor, it is a whole magnitude better than the Pro/E documentation. Try opening it a doing a search on attributes.

As for your callout ID, they come in automatically when you build an assembly and use the partslist on the Assemblies menu. Theer are certain things you have to do to create the partslist format. Once created, you can save a partfile with only the pasrtlist format and then merge the format into all new assembly files. We do al of this with GRIP programs.

If you want other attributes in your drawing format, just create them and use them in the border by using the Annotation Editor. There is a button to format attributes in the method needed to display the attribute value. If I have an attribute named DRAWN_BY and the value assigned to it is BHL, then <W@DRAWN_BY> will put BHL on the drawing.

Thanks Ben

I will do some more reading, I knew the note would work somehow, in pro e its the & sign, then the parameter, LOL

Thanks

I too am learning to use UG after usiing mainly Pro/E I find that many aspects of the two programs especially in Part Modeling are similar.

If you know how to use Pro/E the learning curve is not too bad for other programs.

You can find some good info on the CADpotato site that I've seen mentioned here.
