Hi please enlighten me on the Iron alloys which have Austenitic structure at low temperatures and which can be produced in metal casting

Hello TVP, Thank you very much.. I'll look into those documents

If I have to use casted part for Nozzle in LNG tanks (cryogenics) what material I should chose.. thats my question

Materials for LNG storage tanks can vary from 9%Ni to austenitic stainless steel, I would not recommend any cast material for nozzles. You will probably require a fabricated nozzle from rolled and welded plate using either 9%Ni or 3XX stainless steel for cryogenic application. Second, the materials of construction will be limited to whatever standard you are using for the LNG storage tank.

I agree, Metengr, you beat me to the post. Cast products for such application a BIG NO !

@craghav, have you experienced a cast part being used for such application?

The only cast parts are either internal to the system (non-pressure boundary) or something designed with 50:1 safety factors (like a valve body).
Your governing code with give a short list of material options and rules for fabrication.

My friend said we could use Nozzle 1/2 SCH Stainless steel... is that not casted part?

Not enough information to answer your question. Look at the material specification instead of listening to your friend.

craghav, I cannot vouch for your friend's advice, but I will certainly accept the opinions provided here. Look at the existing product and apply your mind.
